Bridgewater Photographic Society Minutes

November 22, 2011

  • Grant Dixon spoke about the possibility of purchasing a new projector. Our old one is calibrated to the limit. A new one would be approximately $1400.00. Willy will get us the best deal and will calibrate it.
  • Reminder to sign up for the Christmas party at Pizza Delight on December 13.
  • Treasure Hunt will take place in the new year. Team or individual entries of 10 images of things to look for.
  • Brenda Fitzgerald welcomed visitors.
  • Mark Doucette was the guest speaker. He has thirty years experience in photography. He is the official photographer for the Bluenose II restoration. He gave an informative and entertaining talk.
  • On a sad note, Marilyn Archibald is in serious condition after being hit with a golf ball.
  • Teresa Alexander Arab gave information about the display at the Debrisay Museum coming up next fall. The theme is Lunenburg County, Chasing the Light. Members are asked to submit three images size 8×10 or larger, framed and matted. They are to be submitted in order of preference. The exhibit brochure will feature the 30th anniversary of the club. Members are asked to submit images for the brochure which may be colour or black and white and able to be a square image.
  • Nancy Johnston announced that the Photo Guild Fall Show is on November 26 at Saint Mary’s University.
  • Ralph Cook announced that camera equipment was donated by Norman Lambert to the club to be used as a fundraiser.
  • There will be a field trip to Mahone Bay for the Father Christmas Festival on Saturday, November 26.
  • Competitions were in Human Interest and Photo Travel.
  • The club needs suggestions as to how to get judges for competitions.
  • There was a slide show presentation of the field trip to Kedji Adjunct.
  • The next meeting will be January 10, 2012 at the MARC. Colin Campbell will be the guest speaker. He will share his photos of Iceland and speak about digital black and white photography.
  • Debbie and John Croft provided the refreshments.
